Self retightening take two and three

Okay so Let me start with day two.. Hey things arent so bad so far! I was holding my tool with confidence today...LOL!.....Until... Oh no what have I done! I have Married one of my locks with another.I guess I didnt secure the locks that were complete...One got away.I panicked and was ready to call 911...somebody help me..LOL! Relax, Relate, release. I approached the mirror to see the damage I though I did....But luckly I hadnt reached my scalp so I was able to put the lock back in its place....Geesh!From there things looked great.I'll now play close attention to my clipped locks so none will escape:) day 2 took about 2 hours before bedtime. I work full time and I have 4yr old..... so Im giving myself a reasonable 2-3hrs a day until I master this reightening thingy. see day two's progress :)

Day 3.......today I started in the back this time....I thought it would be a challenge but it seemed abit easier. I had more control of my hands...

The Adventure Begins....Woo is Me!!

Hello Ladies is been a minute since my last post. First off
things remain wonderful with my locks. I am now 7mths locked.....time is flying. My hair has grown so much over this 7
mth period.I was happy to find out during my 6mth retighening...I
no longer need to braid and band my hair for washing...I was well on my way and was in no danger to slippage. Oh my :) that first wash after hearing that was so freeing..."LOL.....No residue! I was able to dig right in and get my scalp squeaky clean. Well weeks passed and I decided......why not take the plunge now and learn how to retighten my hair...couldn't be too overwhelming right :o! I then
called my consultant and turned my retightening appt. into a class.
So I was very excited about leaning how to retighten my locks. After going to class....All I can say is ...WEW...I feel like I was working with all thumbs.....I did 4 locks in 1 1/2 hrs...funny right.I was thinking to myself there's no way I get this head completed! Im so Glad my Consultant will be there for me whenever i need a break...LOL! Much Luv Paulette :). Well when I got home I decided...Id take a stab at it again...well there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel......I was actually getting the tool thru in one swoop...I was starting to get the my pattern without looking at the guide. I finished 4 rows on both sides. my confidence level was now up after 3hrs....LOL. My anticipated 2 weeks to finish was looking a bit promising. Well take a look at my progress..........I should be done in a week.....naw....I gotta get done soon :o!

5 mth Lock Anniversary

Hello Just thought I'd stop in and post my 5th month progress
report. My hair is maturing quickly.....Im so excited!
Now that my hair is growing, I decide I need to do a little bit
of hair styling. I was considering using the soft pike hair rollers
to get the curly look. I was then given a suggestion to use Pipe Cleaners
to get the Strawset looks. I was so anxious to try it I love strawsets ...I stopped immediately at the nearest Dollar Tree I found,... to see if they had pipe cleaner...and they did...Yippie.
I got home wet my hair with good ole water thats all and begin to roll my hair as instructed. The process took about 30 min to roll. I slept in the pipe cleaners and my hair was fully dried by the morning. I unravelled the PC and observed a very cute spiral of my hair. After I comnpletely removed the PC I fingered thru and seperated the curls.............."I loved It" in turned out great. Prior to going natural,I would frequently strawset my hair, So I pretty much followed the same technique less the styling mousse. I thought I would miss my strawsets, now that i have sisterlocks......., But Im bacccccccccccK....haha. I just love this great styling method. Pls see some recent photos attached.

1st retightening

well I've had my first retightening on May 1st! it took to approx 2 1/2 hours. My Consultant said my hair is doing well. I didnt have any slippage out of the normal she said, In my case it was the first back row. I know that area is going to be my stubborn area because the hair is a Little softer there. Im excited about the progress my hair has made thus fair.........Its definitely beginning to grow and the 1/2 inch of perm I started with.......is almost gone..... its only in a few spot. Here are a few of my 1st mth pic after the 1st retightening.

1 mth lock Anniversary

Wow....... it has been one mth since being Sisterlocked! I am loving my hair more and more each day!Im sure we all can agree with this statement.............."what took me so long to learn about this "Man the time spent in the hair dresser's chair.....cramped rears and the sore necks . I wont miss that pain..LOL!So far the feedback Im getting is positive....your braids fit you they say... and I just laugh to myself! Im still working on my mom...she just can get past the time it took for the installation 12hrs was a bit much for her. My dad even asked was I getting a new head..haha!

I explained to my mom that it was a one time thing...:) and after the install, the retightening process requires less time. She now wears a natural style, i bet after my hair matures into the beauty its going to be... she'll be asking me ....How can I get my hair like that :) and I'll say a 12hr installation process...:). I am so carefree with my hair now and that's a plus with having a toddler boy...geeshhhhhhhh he keeps me going! No more getting up an extra 1/2 hr just to style my hair in the morning...spritz with a little water and go! I workout at the gym at least 5 days a week so i have being able to push myself a bit harder sweating in my hair with not a care in the world.........it a wonderful thing!

First Shampooing experience

Okay so its was time for my first shampoo experience!
After a long week at the gym ...free to sweat in my hair !
No worry...right.... " boy did I love that" no more going home to blow dry
my hair! Well I braided up my hair in several little sections and put my
Barrettes on to secure my ends. I grabs the Sisterlock Starter shampoo and
proceeded to massage the shampoo in my scalp. I pour it directly in my hand and massaged it in and down the braids...! next I rinsed and washed again.... After rinsing and rinsing....I was done! I let my hair air dry overnight so I would have the curly look. After taking out my braids I notice my scalp was chalky white in some spot like I had some sort of bad dandruff problem the ends of my hair had a dull..dry... fried looked. I guess after all that so called rinsing I was doing..... it was not enough for this shampoo, I have residue lurking :0 ! Now my head is itching like never before. I guess next time I will have to dilute the shampoo instead of using it directly from the bottle
(i'll will post pics of the dull effect of the shampoo.......rinse rinse and rinse again time 3)
By the way does it matter the temperture of the water when shampooing your locks?

The Journey Begins

Hello All, I am officially a part of the sisterlock community Yippie! My Journey Began March 21, 2008. It didn't seem like it would ever come.Especially after taken down my last set of Kinky twist...so you can only imagine..LOL!
I was ready to embrace the nappy side, but man is my hair
thick! After years and years of wearing Braids....Zillions and then
most recent Kinky Twist(which helped me get a feel for the kinky look)....I decided since I never wear my hair.....why not transition to sisterlocks!
I had by first glance at sisterlocks 3 yrs ago......, my son's Daycare
provider had them....... and the curiosity began! After that, I knew I wanted
them but wasn't aware that I didn't have to completely grow out
my permed ends...! So three years later I was referred to her Locition
Paulette of Locks4Life.I'm so glad I decide to go to Paulette. My
locking session was so relaxing.. my session took approx 12hrs
but didn't not seem so at all. Everyone in the shop was so friendly!!!
I felt welcomed and very comfortable ....I knew I was in good hands!
Thanks for stopping by,.....I look forward to charting my progress......feedback is always welcomed.

Well here are a few pics taking at my locking session and my 2nd day
locked, I must say I thought my hair was much shorter.
